RSL Sub Branch Annual Dinner

Helen and I just got back from the Sheffield Sub Branch Annual Dinner.

I sat next to the State President Bill Kait. Bill served in Malaya, Vietnam and New Guinea. Bill lives in Gawler.

The Sheffield Sub Branch is quite strong which is good. The club runs as a separate entity. The club is running successfully having grown the business significantly in the past 10 years.

The league is always looking for new members. Are you interested?

I don’t know how many thousands of people were there today but it was a big number.

The weather was great and there was plenty to see and do.

Tasmanian Trail

Did you know the Tassie Trail passes through Kentish?

It is a walking/riding trail that traverses Tassie from top to bottom or vise versa.

I recently rode a small stage with my son Josh from Railton to Latrobe. Around 18km. It was pretty easy being mostly downhill. Learn more here.

We recently took the kids for a paddle down at Kimberley ford on the Mersey.

What lovely spot. This is where the pioneers used to cross to go to Deloraine.

Beware of glass though. Some people are clueless.

Council Budget

It won’t be long before Council starts planning our budget for the coming financial year.

Are there potential projects we should aware of?

The new medical centre will be a focus for the next financial year. There will be major renovations to the northern building and new services being put in.

The grounds of the medical centre will also be developed with a walking track and bike road safety park going in. Also you will see some outdoor gym equipment installed.

Anyway if there is a project that you think would have benefit to the community then now is the time approach a councillor to discuss.

What goes up

A massive redwood has been cut down in King George Park. The tree was over 30 metres tall.

It came down because it was rotting and cracks were appearing. A dangerous tree that we would rather control where it falls.

Any decent wood will be salvaged.
