A view up High St Sheffield

The crossroads of Sheffield. Streetscape work was pretty minimal.
The large building on the left was the Sheffield Inn (originally names the Kentish Inn). James Powlett originally ran the hotel (he was from Sheffield England). He settles in Sheffield in 1861. The hotel burned down. Caltex is now located on this corner. Many town meetings were [...]

They Grew Tall

Kentish was a densely wooded area when the pioneers arrived. A primeval forest. Trees were monsters.
The tree in the attached photo was 260 feet tall. Around 90 metres. The photo was taken at West Kentish. Can you see the people at the base of the tree?
Life would have been tough.

Update

Council has experienced a fairly smooth six months or so. Councillors are working pretty well together. We disagree about things but usually find a way forward we can all live with.
The new medical precinct takes a lot of time. Darrin Cunningham is doing a lot of hard yards on this project.
